On my mother's (WHITE) side, while nobody had tried to trace the family history before, at least some details were known by my mother and her brother and there was contact with relatives back in England. Still there have been brick walls along the way on this side of the family. However, with a lot of work and fortuneate meetings via the internet I have managed to piece together much of the family history, and establish contact with new found relatives in England. I am very greatful to those who have been willing to share the results of their own research where it has related to our common family interest. | On my father's (MURPHY) side of the family I did not have much to go on as it appears that my grandparents did not keep in touch with their relatives back in Ireland after they came to New Zealand in 1910. Neither my father, or any of his siblings knew of any living relatives back in Ireland. Previous attempts by others of the Murphy descendants had failed to trace any living relatives back in Ireland. The best anyone had achieved was to locate my grandparent's parents and some of their siblings in the 1901 Irish Census. Wtih this as a starting point and with lot of the luck of the Irish with chance contacts on the internet I have manged to re-establish contact with relatives back in Ireland | |
